Bullseye Sail boot

BULLSEYE is modeled after the Herreshoff BULLSEYE of the same name and is thus a semi-scale model. The model construction has been adapted in many places compared to the original construction in favor of the lighter superstructure, while the good sailing characteristics of the BULLSEYE have been retained.
Original:
Nathanael Greene Herreshoff was one of the greatest and most important yacht designers of the 20th century, who lived in Bristol Rhode Island on the American East Coast. He designed many successful racing yachts and among others dominated and shaped the Americas Cup with his J-Class yachts. But this great man also loved small sailboats and has graced the U.S. East Coast with several unit classes, some of them very successful. One of these is the Herreshoff 12 ½ footer, built from 1914 to the present day and still very popular today. From this boat, of which the Herreshoff shipyard built over 300 units, Mr. Herreshoff developed the Bullseye.

The Bullseye has the same hull as the Herreshoff 12 ½ footer and also two of the rigging variations of the same. The early boats have gaff sails, the more modern high sails. A major advantage of the Bullseye over its forefather is the wider side deck, larger foredeck and aft deck, and enclosed bench seats. Furthermore, there is a variant with a slip cabin, which, however, is visually not very successful. The Bullseye also enjoys great popularity to this day, there is a very active class association and also shipyards that still build new boats.

The Model:
What makes the Bullseye better than its ancestor is its wider side deck and closed seat thwarts. This prevents water from entering the cockpit when sailing and means there is less water in the cockpit if any does come over. The result is safer sailing. The good sailing characteristics of the original have been retained in the model. It sails like the big ones, but also wants to be steered actively. To drop, the sails must be opened and tacks require tight sails. Gusts have to be sailed out by sheefing the sheets, or by light luffing. This ensures sailing fun and long-term enjoyment of the model, which can be sailed safely up to three Beaufort. In addition, the model looks cuddly and has the potential to realize your own ideas. There are no transportation problems with the Bullseye either, as it fits in the trunk of even a small car, and at the lake it can be rigged and ready to sail in less than three minutes.

The kit includes a large, thermoformed plastic hull, all laser-cut wooden parts for the assembly and disassembly, laser-cut sails, mast, fittings, boat stand and 3D building instructions for easy assembly.
